Rome: Season 1 (Episode 2)
Watched: 10/29/06
With: Scott
Year: 2005
Reason for watching: Scott's Netflix
Opinion: Still not sure what I think about this show-seems to be fitting for the time period-given the small knowledge that I have of the history.

Knowing a bit of the history is almost a problem, actually -- I know "how it ends" for the most important characters, and yet I also wonder how far they are deviating from history just to be interesting. They might actually be going a little too far in making Rome as vulgar as it is.
The writing/acting are definitely not as tight or polished as in, for instance, Deadwood, and my jury is still out. I'm willing to give it another disc (two episodes) and then we'll see if it's worth finishing out the season.
